Thought for the Day: Against foe and friend we must press on

Yesterday we had taken up positions in an abandoned encampment. It seemed to be there had been settlers here. No trace if them however. But their tents and housing remained. It wasn’t the best position possible, but we were in need of rest. So we made due. I sent out a scouting party led by Brother Amicor. Brother Acidus and Joe, our local, were with him. I had taken Amicor alone and told him to keep an eye on Joe. I still haven’t figured out if he can be trusted. Up untill now he hasn’t given us any trouble, but I’m still not sure if we can use him.

I had set out a perimeter and everybody was taking a rest. Time to check up on our guns, enjoy the quite and maybe eat something. Then all of a sudden they were upon us. Hyperius was taken out by a burst from their heavy bolter. This burst was followed up by an explosion, possibly the weapon had malfunctioned. An assault marine wearing a jump pack landed into our midst and headed straight towards Brother Ru. I quickly charged him and was joined by Ru. Even together we weren’t able to take him down. I must have hit him several times, but my blows just seemed to bounce of his armor. Brother Ru put up a good fight but our enemy must him been taken over by some rage. His blows were filled with a mighty fury and struck done Ru. He didn’t stand a chance and went man down. As quickly as the enemy had jumped upon us, they vanished into thin air.

They dind’t take any of our supplies nor any of our other belongings. I’m puzzled as to why they raided us, it seems their only goal was to take down Brother Ru. While he suffered some minor headtrauma he should be fine. First our clash with the Brass Lords and now this ambush? I can’t make sense of this? Why are we being set upon by fellow marines? Can the rumours about the Chalice be true? Why else would other space marines fight our chapter. It must be that damned Inquisitor. So he found out… Well then we really might be onto something. Then it’s best to hurry. In which case some more local help might be a good idea. We’ll have to see to that. As soon as the scouting party returns we’ll head out.

Thought for the Day: Beware of the betrayal

During our reconnaisance yesterday we came upon some abandoned supplies. While trying to salvage these supplies we began taking hostile fire. Brothers Rebellius and Ru on the right flank were beset upon by a scout of the enemy. Close observation from our own scout pointed out that it was an combat element of the Brass Lords chapter. Since we are in bad need of supplies I didn’t pull out my man, but ordered them to drive of the enemy as quickly as possible. A firefight ensued. They set up a heavy bolter on are right flank which prevented us from using that area. I ordered Hyperius to take up position with his heavy bolter in a tall building on our left. From there he might be able to give us suppressing fire while we closed with the enemy. As soon as he had entered the building we were under fire from two plasmaguns. Damned things might have burned a hole right through us it it weren’t for the bad mark of their users. Fortunately the Immobilis Mobilator smiled upon us and proved our aim to be true. We were able to take down several of the enemy. They decided enoug is enough and turned tail taking with them some of the supplies that we stumbled upon. Luckily we managed to grab most of the supplies for ourselves.

When the fight was over I told the men to secure the area. We found some more supplies and also came upon a local. In a subtle way I heard him out. His information proved to be interesting and we will certainly have to follow it up. For the moment I decided it was best to keep him by our side. An extra gun might prove usefull, even if it was held be unskilled hands. Furthermore he might have an idea about our mission here on Logansworld and we wouldn’t want that information to fall into the wrong hands. No, best to keep him close by, where we can keep an eye on him.

I’m also wandering what it is exactly that the Brass Lords are doing on this planet? And why have they taken up arms against fellow marines in service of the emperor? Could it be that the inquisitor had gotten word of our mission? It that case it might be best to hurry up our investigations and pull out as soon as possible. Or were the marines just as confused as we had been and was this fire fight just a big mess up? Hmm. I’ll need to give this some thought as soon as time permitts…

Recent investigations have brought to my attentions that a small task force of Celestial Knights has been dispatched to Logans World. I will need to see to this as soon as possible. Will this be the moment of their betrayal? In the Emperor’s name I will have to keep a close eye on them!

Celestial Knights of the Chalice: unknown origin, dubious motivation, possible contact with the ruinous powers, attention level Beta

The chapter of the Celestial Knights of the Chalice, or Celestial Knights for short, is an ancient chapter. Nobody exactly knows what its true origins are for they are shrouded in mist and legend. What is known about the chapter is that they don’t have a homeworld. The Celestial Knights are constantly travelling through the universe. Their fleet consists of a few task forces, which will be deployed according to their needs and wishes.
Most of these task forces consist of only a few ships, which are on a specific mission. The homefleet as it is called is much larger and is made up out of ships to mine asteroids for valuable resources and ships that contain huge workshops as well as a lot of well armed and armoured ships to protect this fleet. By not being bound to a homeworld the chapter gives expression to their first and foremost desire: to find the Chalice that will bring peace and prosperity to all. Everything the Celestial Knights do and don’t do is in accordance with this most ultimate goal. They live and breath to find this lost relic.

The Chalice

It is not precisely known, not even by the inner circle of Knights, what the precisely Chalice is. Some believe it to be a very powerful artefact that in the hands of true good can be used to overcome the powers of evil. Legend has it that it is shaped to match the Chalice from which the Immobilis Mobilator sipped when he sang the sung that shaped the eternal stars and planets. As such it is regarded with the utmost reverence and it is deemed necessary that the Chalice resides in the hands of the just.
There are also theories that the Chalice might not be a corporate entity. They state that the Chalice might be symbolic for a state of mind. This state of mind can be entered by a long, complete and utter devotion to the righteous cause. The Celestial Knights position on this is twofold. Firstly they are searching for a physical Chalice by travelling through the galaxy and examining every clue they can obtain. Secondly by devoting themselves completely to this quest they try to gain as pure and devoted a state of mind as can be achieved by any mortal. This way they follow both theories that exist about the Chalice.
It might be of some importance to note that for their stance regarding a Immobilis Mobilator as the supreme divine entity and the Chalice the Celestial Knights receive a lot of attention from our Imperial Inquisitors. Up until now relations between the chapter and the inquisitors have been polite and cold. The suspicions our inquisitors might have against the Celestial Knights, for instance not few have believed they have an inclination towards the Dark Powers, has yet to be materialised.

Modus Operandi

When the Celestial Knights come upon a clue regarding the Chalice they will first dispatch a small task force to follow this up. A task force may consist of only 10 marines, but may also be larger depending on the importance the chapter ascribes to the clue. This small task force will investigate without drawing to much attention to itself. They often rely on local help to achieve this goal. Firstly this help is expendable and enable them to keep marine casualties low. Secondly since they don’t have a homeworld they don’t have a normal recruitment pool. When using local help the expeditionmaster keeps a good eye out for any locals that may seem promising. He may grant them the initiate-status so they can return with the task force to the homefleet. Here they will receive their training and will become full members of the chapter.

We’ve come across them traitor marines again. We didn’t see many but we think it’s the same as last time. This time though, they attacked us from both sides, in greater numbers than before. As we were scouting out an area which appeared to contain several valuable resources our deployment was scattered to the extreme. Our teo scouts tried to investigate the nature of the resources but they were shot down. Thank the Emperor they were not seriously harmed! I myself ventured through the vents with Favian, we emerged in an industrial complex before we found ourselves surrounded and gunned down. Our battle gear protected us from harm, but the fall down left meunconscious. After the turmoil lessened I rejoined the rest of the crew, who had retreated as well.

Following this blow we have moved on to different territories. The ruins which we occupied held little valuables and did not provide adequate cover for out operation. Through our intricate vent system we went deeper into the industrial ruins, until we emerged at it’s core. We hope to find lost STC technology here, but at the moment any help is welcome. We also located a small, seemingly illegal gambling den. It’s not very densely populated around these parts but it appears some strange people are attracted here anyway. I may have to try my luck later on. For now, all we can do it strain, and scout out more. Over and out!

Inquisitor Jonosson, we have intercepted another message. Apperantly the adaptus astartes are fighting each other. What is going on on this planet…

    —-####—- Intercepted Transmission —-####—-
    Rejoice o, brethern!!

After hearing of chaches of weaponry and other supplies that were supposed to be lying in the ruins surrounding Free Kago we went forward to retrieve them.

When we reached the designated area we soon spotted a number of interesting crates and boxes in the ruins. Our scanners however started showing the presence of enemy in the vicinity. Battle formations were formed and slowly we progressed scouting ahead.

Our first views of what was going on were very interesting, Apparently there has been some sort of fall out in the ranks of the followers of the false emperor. We observed a shootout between some of the pity full followers of the decayed corpse. Mayhap some of them have seen the light and will join our side!!!

One the false followers apparently went out scouting earlier and had hidden very well. Only after coming really close we observed their presence. Immediately Aban showed his willingness to spill blood, ran up the stairs and shoot the filthy coward with his lasgun. Obviously even a lowly cultist can easily take care of the scum. Although the bastard managed to get on his feet again, obviously a retreat had been ordered and he fled the field of battle.

Thay’s when we met the second force. Brethek and Rundar immediately went forward, while Hragnar took up a nice firing position. Our rapid advance proved beneficial. Although a few more of our fledgling followers went down, they managed to take a scout out of action.

Brethek had an easy time with his opponents, but our leader Rundar got into a fight with a few man to many. This was no honorable combat! There would however be no fleeing. Rundar took down one of the fighters, but sadly had to go down as well and was captured.

After the pity full marines had captured Rundar they fled the scene of battle, knowing that staying would have meant the death of all of them. Luckily we managed to take out one of their numbers.

In the heat of the battle we however forgot about the resources we were looking for and they were left behind while we were contemplating how to rescue Rundar. Luckily didn’t have to rescue him. Making use of some of the bandit contact we could buy his safety again.

Next time we will get back at the scum that captured him!

Skull for the Skull throne, Blood….

    Ruleset 1.5

    4 Nov

    Here is the last ruleset:

    Ruleset_v1.5

As it stands, this ruleset can now be used for playing the Rogue Munda game. You will off course still need the basic rules from necromunda. There are still some things that need to be done, but those are add-ons to the standard game and er not neccesary. Hired Guns for instance will be looked at later on. The game can however be played very well without those rules.

I didn’t put the painted miniatures rule in the file, since it’s still under discussion.

The general idea is however that eveyone should use only painted miniature. This is for some people who have not enough time or are just really slow painters maybe a problem. So, to compensate you are allowed to use unpainted miniatures. For every miniature that is not painted, your opponent will get 1 reroll. This might seem heavy, but hey, consider how much work your opponent put in his painting. He deserves the bonus!

    Cheers,

    Chris

Our scouting mission was a succes.

Squad Delta was send in deep in the teritory where the traitor marines were deemed to be active. Our role was to obtain clear cut evidence of the precense of Traitor Marine forces. Rumours were going around about the possible presence of warbands of Khornate marines and a force of the dreaded Emperor’s Childeren. That these marines be damned for still using the name of their legion!Khorne_Marine2

It took us a number of days to procure the pictures we were send in to find.

We can not yet confirm the presence of the hated Emperors Childeren, but we have confirmed World Eater activity

We came upon a small scouting force consiting of three traitors. We had to check out camera agian, so suprides were we at the pictures. What in the emperors name have these foul enemies of mankind done to their armour? There seems to be not a shred of humanity left in there.

Let the pictures speak for themselves.
